Top Tips For Sunrise Photography
30th September 2009
To get the big picture of the sunrise you need to set the alarm and got up before dawn. Superb shots, including a lot of preparation to the front to make sure that you are the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment.
Checking location
You’ll want to spend the least time possible to find the right place - a compass, maps, boots and walked out before the day you intend to take your picture to find yourself the best place to catch the sunrise. That way you can be in bed before you have to get up.
Up early
If the sunrise is at 5, you’ll want to see at least half an hour before catching the early light and make sure you do not miss anything.
Silhouettes
You can make a big silhouette effect using the day as backlighting. Thinking about the day that will rise up and try to frame something as a point of interest in future for additional effect.
Important mechanism for the sunrise camera
Tripod or support
The morning light is low and long shutter speed, to calm the camera is very important. Take a tripod or find something to support your camera and use the self-timer or cable release to avoid camera shake when pressing the shutter.
Filter
